On 5 February 2025, twenty-four students and three teachers from Emiliyan Stanev School took part in an educational visit to the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria in Sofia as part of the European Values and Migration Jean Monnet Network project.
During the visit, the students attended an information session organised by the European Union Information Centre, where they learned about the role of the European Commission, the institutions of the European Union, and the importance of European cooperation. Special attention was given to the topic of disinformation and the dangers of false or misleading information spread to deceive the public or influence opinions.
Experts explained the European Union’s policies and initiatives aimed at combating disinformation and protecting democratic values across Europe. The students actively participated in discussions and showed great interest in current European issues.
The visit also introduced the participants to the House of Europe in Sofia, which hosts both the European Commission Representation and the European Parliament Bureau in Bulgaria. The experience provided students with valuable insight into the work of the European institutions and strengthened their understanding of European citizenship and shared values.
